Life Struggle Ends for 11th Terror Victim

After a two week courageous struggle to save the live of American teenager Danny Wultz, staff physicians at Tel Aviv’s Icilov Hospital gave the sad announcement that the sixteen year old tourist had finally succumbed to his wounds.

Wultz and his father (who was lightly wounded) were eating lunch together in a popular fast food eatery near the old Tel Aviv Central Bus Station, when the Islamic Jihad sponsored terrorist walked up and detonated the bomb that sent nails and other metal fragments directly into Danny’s body, only a few meters from where the explosion actually went off. The wounds Danny suffered were so horrible, that his internal body organs were literally pulverized, requiring some of them to be removed. The shrapnel, which entered the boy’s abdomen, carried up through his right side, immediately destroying his spleen and one of his kidneys before exiting through his side. The external wound was so large that physicians were not able to close it, resulting in Danny requiring more than 30 pints of blood.

Requests for AB+ blood, much rarer than more common A, B, or O types went out all over Israel, through the news medias, as well as via the internet. Though Danny did regain unconscious after a week, he was not able to speak with his family, who kept a constant vigil by his beside. His one form of ‘communication’, during the few days before he again lost consciousness, was to blink his eyes when spoken to.

Danny had managed to say a few words to his father ,Tuly Wultz, at the scene of the attack, become being rushed off to Ichilov Hospital’s Trauma Center, where horrified doctors began the series of operations in a futile attempt to save his life. Danny’s last words to his father were: “I love you Dad”.

Students from Danny’s school in Miami, Florida, also kept up a vigil during his hospitalization, and even organized a campaign to raise funds to help pay for the steep medical costs that will result from the tragedy. Besides all of Danny’s immediate family, other family members also rushed to Israel to be with the Wultz family during their two week period of hell.

During this same period, another victim of the terror outrage, 26 year old Lior Enidzer also died from mortal wound sustained in the attack. He was only married for two weeks to his bride, Maya.

Danny Wultz will now be taken back to his home for burial, undoubtedly to be attended by his entire school, as well as his congregation and scores of friends and neighbors. Their grief is in sharp contrast to the ‘joy’ expressed by family members of the Islamic Jihad killer who’s family most likely handed out sweets and fired their guns into the air countless numbers of times.

One can’t help by see the irony between the two sides; one in which a young life and ten others as well were tragically snuffed out forever. The other, in which the deed of this fiend was actually celebrated in the streets of Jenin, Nablus, and other Palestinian locations, glorified the act. Celebrated what?

  1. I wrote a piece about Wultz that is now appearing on Web sites of Chabad (www.chabad.org, http://www.chabad.edu) and other subsidiary sites. Wultz was an amazing kid.

An old Yiddish saying goes: You can’t dance at two weddings at one time. You also can’t share one piece of land between two nations, both of which claim ownership. We need leaders who understand that population transfer is the only answer. Jews dance in Israel; Arabs dance in Jordan.
