Neo-Nazis are Alive and Well in Minnesota USA

The National Socialist Movement (aka NSM88) - Jeff SchoepHe stood at the podium, the balmy spring breeze gently blowing the flags and banners that were situated on either side of the platform from whence the demonstration would take place. A large contingent of police were busy keeping an angry crowd of protestors at bay, a good 300 meters from where the speaker stood, dressed in brown paramilitary garb. In the open area in front of the platform, around two hundred people had gathered to listen to the message that would come from this man, a graying, mustached gentleman with a pronounced ‘middle age paunch’. Many of the spectators appeared to be misfits from society: skinheads, simple working folk, overweight, unemployed school dropouts, abused housewives, and others who wanted to be ‘enlightened’ by the message they would hear. But many others appeared to be very normal, middle class citizens who were apparently dissatisfied with the direction their government was leading them. And for that reason, they had come to listen.

Then the man began to speak, his loud, angry voice rising and lowering in pitch in accordance to the mood of his listeners; and to the chagrin of the protestors being kept at bay. Waving his arms and pointing to the groups of protestors being held back by an increasingly nervous police force, the leader told his audience regarding who he held responsible for their grievances.

Anti Jewish Graphic - NSM88“It is the Communists and the Jews who are causing your children to go hungry and your debts to keep mounting. They hold the power and pay off the politicians to do their bidding! They (the Jews) control the money and own the properties you live in and charge you outrageous rents, while letting the rats run free and attack your families. And they (pointing to ‘the Communists’ holding protest signs) make your beautiful Aryan children attend schools with racially inferior sub-humans.”

He stopped, looked over his audience who appeared to be hanging on his very words, waiting to hear what their leader’s solutions were to all their problems. “We, the National Socialists, protectors of the Aryan Race; we will make this country strong again! We will chase out all these rodents who sap your strength and will to fight”

With his right arm raised in front of him he screamed: “Zeig Heil! Zeig Heil!”
And his audience followed suit accordingly.

This event did not occur in a ‘bier gartin’ in Munich, Germany in 1926; or during the last days of the dying Weimar Republic in 1931. It occurred not long ago in Minneapolis Minnesota, on the steps of one of that city’s most prestigious buildings. It occurred in a nation that gives its citizens the constitutional right of freedom of speech and assembly. This group had a police permit to hold their rally, making their presence there perfectly legal and entitled to full protection against the ‘rabble’ being restrained by police wearing riot gear and carrying clubs and tear gas. And the event occurred after the 9-11 terror attacks in Washington DC and New York City. Interesting enough, Muslims were never mentioned once by this self-proclaimed ‘Fuehrer’, possibly because they possess much of the oil remaining in the world, and because they, the Arabs have the same hatred toward the one group particularly singled out by this modern day group of “National Socialists” – The Jews.

There is a famous saying that goes like this: “They who do not learn from the lessons of history, are doomed to repeat them”. Judging from the above incident in America’s Heartland, no truer words could ever have been spoken.

This video was shot in a similar NSM88 event in Lansing, Michigan - It is edited by an Israeli user on YouTube.

After seeing (and hearing) the above, I did a quick internet search, and came up with the following:

    Leader: Jeff Schoep
    Headquarters: Minneapolis, MN
Founded: 1974 by Robert Brannen and Cliff Herrington
    Publications: NSM Magazine
Other Media: Web site, literature distribution, conferences and rallies
Ideology: Neo-Nazi; NSM calls for a “greater America” that would deny citizens to Jews, nonwhites, and homosexuals.
Composition: Mostly young, including racist skinheads; the group also has older holdovers from George Lincoln Rockwell’s American Nazi Party of the 1960s.
Connections Ties with various Klan, racist skinhead and other neo-Nazi groups.
Significance: One of the most explicitly “Nazi-like” neo-Nazi groups, emulating the uniforms and paraphernalia of the Third Reich. It has a vaguely paramilitary structure, with military ranks for its members.

It REALLY EXISTS, people! This is NO JOKE!

I remember seeing in a movie, sometimes in the 80’s, that there are also Nazis in Illinois.

  3. Amram.B,

There are more states in the U.S. with similar
groups, they are mostly the outcasts of the American society, misfits and lost souls,
it doesn’t mean that they should be fought by
    civilised and normal americans.

I wanted to provide a little perspective on that nauseating display in Minnesota, which might be mistaken as a trend in American politics. The people in that video have little to do with the National Socialism of Adolf Hitler. They are just racists and white supremacists who have expropriated a powerful symbol of hate. People with such beliefs are relegated to fringe groups that have no political power or influence. In fact, neo-Nazi groups in the US are scorned and ridiculed. Their total numbers are extremely low. It is still a shock to see them parading around with Swastikas but that is why they do it….for shock value. No one would pay attention to them if they were dressed in business suits. These groups, and their beliefs and attitudes, have existed in the US in one form or another since the end of the American Civil War. Racism does exist today in the US, as it exists in all other countries, but in much subtler, less dangerous forms. However, the hate filled and sometimes violent message promulgated by groups like this have never been mainstream in the US and will continue to be rejected by American society.

Not fought, but kept under close scruteny and observason.

Timothy McVay, the man convicted and executed for his part in the bombing of the Federal Building in Okla. City in 1995, was suspected to have belonged to a right winged extremist group. His accomplace, Terry Nichols, is now serving multiple life terms for his part in this act. He (Nichols) had definite links to an Islamic terror group Abu Saayaf.

Like what was said in the article, the neo Nazis often align themselves with these Islamic terror groups, the same way that Adolf Hitler made alliances with the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem during WWII - the object of which, to destroy Jews.

Fortunately, the United States has a history of freedom and democracy, something Germany never had, prior to 1946. Though efforts were made to indtoduce democracy during the Weimar Republic (1920-1932) the tradiitons of Prussian militarism prevented this from happening, and, of course, Hitler took over in 1932.

If people could just get beyond their “superiority trips”! Their own hate will consume and destroy them! I have no energy whatsoever for that kind of blind hate.

Love your blog, keep up the good work.

I’ve lived my life of 36 years in Minnesota; I’ve lived in Minneapolis for the past 6.

Honestly, I’d not even heard of this “rally” or whatever you’d like to call it before now- and I’m not generally one to be oblivious to local news, though I’ve little doubt that small groups like this exist in cities across the country.

For the vast majority of us, these insignificant nutjobs aren’t even worth our attention. In fact, many of us would just assume ignore them completely, lest we give them recognition they don’t deserve or warrant.

The best way to fight these inbred fools is to simply ignore them- controversy breeds publicity, which is what they’re after. Yes, they exist, and yes I’d even defend their right to spew their vile views- just know that these are pathetic, powerless people who are generally ignored.

  9. I presume that neofaschist parties und organisations like these exist in most western countries.

In Germany, antisemtist propaganga, public denial of the holocoust and the use of thrird-reich-symbols is prohibited by law. A faschist rally like that one would therefore not be possible.

There are neofaschist Parties in Germany, though. The lagerst of them, the NPD, won 9 seats in the parliament of the federal state of Sachsen (saxony) in 2004. An attempt to have that party dissolved by the Schröder-Government in 2001 failed because of formal reasons.

Additionally, there is a rightist extremist underground subculture with loose ties to the NPD. Regularly, there are clashes between right extremists and left radical antifaschist groups.
Most of the time the german police is able to keep the situation under control. Rarely they have to go as far as in this video.

(Note: The german police is wearing green uniforms. The video shows an antifaschist rally. The situation is about to to get out of control as the rally passes a shop that is part of the extreme right subculture.)

  12. Mr. USA of A Baby!

Timothy McVay was and Aryan Brotherhood and used the
“Turner Diaries,” as the blueprint of his evil actions. While many folks erroneously argue he was a Christian extremist, nothing could be further from the truth. He was aligned with white supremacists/separatists groups. Nothing could be more insulting than trying to call him a Christian.

Its an idea, just like every other idea. all these people are doing is trying to make thier lives better when everyone else has screwed them. You can’t walk into a ghetto if your white because the BLACK people would hurt you, even if you did nothing wrong. For college refrences jews are more likly to be accepted into upstanding colloges than whites. Whites are not to be talked down or to be given less opportunities let the majority rule and kick those freakin monkeys into shape so we can make this land better.
