Interesting……..
When Gibson played Robert Wallace, the 13th Century Scottish Brigand, he shouldn’t have received ‘mercy’ when tied to a table & about to be drawn and quartered. He should have had his balls pinched with red hot irons…..
And he wants to make a movie about Judas Maccabbeus ? I wonder in what framework?

Braveheart…One of my all time favorite movies. This man has talent, no doubt about it. Yes, the man needed to be rebuked for the statement he made. To rebuke him on the same level his statements were made serves no one. Here is an opportunity to really confront the issue, and the light could hardly be brighter. I don’t believe he is a “Jew hater”. And I think it is important to get to the mind-set from which the statements came.
In my opinion, there are very few who have combated the myth “the Jews killed Jesus” more effectively than he has. His movie The Passion of The Christ revealed to all; Anyone who has ever committed a sin has a personal part in why Jesus GAVE His life. Hence, there is no one who does not share in the responsibility. This was quite a feat for a catholic raised individual!

I would LOVE to see a movie about Judas Maccabbeus! (If that’s the one I learned to be Judah Maccabbee)If there was one person who could be credited with blazing the trail to democracy it would have to be Judah Maccabbee. And I really don’t understand why hanukkah is considred a “minor holiday”? The steps taken to retake the Temple are not only the same steps to democracy, they’re the very steps to salvation!
Okay, I can’t resist… I’m going to share one of my hanukkah posts;
[First Blessing]
Barukh atah Adonai, Elohaynu melekh ha-olam Asher kidishanu b’mitzvo-tav Vi-tzivahnu le-hadlikh ner shel hanukkah
(Praised are You, Adonai, our God, Ruler of the universe, who has made us holy though God’s commandments and commanded us to kindle the hanukkah lights.)
[Second Blessing]
Barukh atah Adonai, Elohaynu melekh ha-olam She-asah nisim l’voteynu, ba-yamim ha-hem, ba-zman ha-zeh
(Praised are You, Adonai, our God, Ruler of the universe, who performed miracles for our ancestors in ancient times at this season.)
Alpha and Omega - the beginning and the end,
We praise You for preserving the days of hanukkah. We reflect on the courage of Judah and the Maccabees, willing to take a stand and fight for what is good and right and holy.
With the battle over and the victory won, there was still work to be done. The cleansing of the Temple; removing all the abominable things, this work brought them closer but there was more work to do.
Replacing those abominable things with good and right and holy things, the best of the best, fitting to worship our holy God. Now the work was finished and the lamps could be lit and the Temple rededicated.
When we reflect upon the miracle of one days oil burning for eight days, we see God’s acceptance and can not help but to retrace the steps; courage, struggle, cleansing, refilling with the good and holy things, dedication… God keeps the light shining into the eighth day. [eternity]
7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. John 15:7
End post -
Thanks for bearing with me
Really, this would make an incredible movie!!!
