The end of year Google Zeitgeist is out and the results are very telling I think.
The top searches in 2006 were:
1. bebo ( a new social network)
2. myspace (an old social network)
3. world cup (sports)
4. metacafe (video sharing/social network)
5. radioblog (user generate content search)
6. wikipedia (community managed encyclopedia)
7. video
8. rebelde
9. mininova
10. wiki (user based content platfrom)
So you get the idea that we are very much into ourselves. I guess the TIME magazine cover was right then – You (me) are it!
Now, in terms of News searchs for 2006;

5. hurricane katrina
6. bankruptcy
