Shmuel Tenenhaus aka. ShmuTube is becoming a popular personality in the video blogging community. He has been producing videos that have been making some cash and making his Booby famous in the process…I heard that these “producers” on are getting paid $5 per 1000 impressions and are actively getting courted by the major video channels.

Iran As The Real Israel

February 26th, 2007 Editor

Iran PresidentInteresting article worth reading at The Weekend Economist:

The fear of a powerful and nuclear Iran has even set the stage for a possible nuclear arms race in the Middle East. Jordan’s King Abdullah II followed Egypt and Saudi Arabia’s lead a few months ago in saying that in light of current events, Jordan would be looking to develop a nuclear program “for peaceful purposes.” Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria, as well as Gulf States such as Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman have also expressed a sudden interest in nuclear technology. In the almost 60 years that Israel has been enemy number one in the Middle East - and quite possibly already in possession of nuclear weapons - there was never such widespread talk of nuclear proliferation. This inadvertently shows the true colors of Arab leader’s opinions, who apparently have always known that Israel is not a real threat to them.

The conclusion of the post…

Despite the difficulty in fostering healthy relationships between all countries of the Middle East, one thing has become clear: the fear of Iran at the top level of Arab politics is much more real than all the chewed up rhetoric about the ‘Zionist entity.’

The Tel Aviv Bubble Exposed

February 25th, 2007 Guest

Details Magazine Article on Tel Aviv Finally, an Israel story in international media that isn’t about bus bombings, nukes, or corrupt politicians: Details Magazine, the largest and arguably most influential stlye magazine for 20s and 30s men is running a story this issue about the Tel Aviv “Bubble” that is so well known and loved by its residents.

The story, “Tel Aviv Parties While Israel Burns” gives a pretty accurate picture of Tel Aviv life: always open, always on, and always a little nuts. The Bubble, for those who haven’t basked in its isolating glory, is the term that locals use to describe the 24 hour city which dances to the boom of trance music at 4 am while other Israeli cities hear a very different kind of boom– an ‘allah achbar’ kind. But, all work and no play make Israel a dull country, right?

Amir Peretz Blackout

February 23rd, 2007 Editor

I think this speaks volumes of Amir Peretz’s vision and forward plans as Minister of Defence. This was the cover this week on Yediot Ahronot and well, the words used with the picture were “dark” and “outlook”. This was taken at a large scale excercise in the Golan Heights with the new Chief Of Staff Ashkenazi.

Idiot Judge at Nicole Smith Trial - AN EMBARASEMENT to Legal System

February 21st, 2007 Editor

Is this a fucking joke ? Is someone watching this idiot judge at the Nicole Smith trial and the lying bitch (ex cop no less) mother of Nicole Smith?
This is the biggest load of shit I ever saw. Who needs television and movies when you have this? This judge should not be qualified to walk a dog.
If I were a judge in the US, at any level, I would hand in my robe right now. One might catch whatever this idiot has.
This is the first time I ever saw a judge leading the witness. All she has to do is keep quiet and the judge bails her out.

The woman received money and profited from the death of her daughter. She is in this for the money and when she is asked
about whether she received any money from any publications she gets confused ??? She actually tells the judge she DOESN’T KNOW WHAT THE RIGHT ANSWER IS ?
How about the truth?

Here’s hoping that the next 3 mile jog this judge takes he gets hit by a truck !!!

Police Chiefs Going From Bad To Worse

February 21st, 2007 Maurice

Moshe Karadi Outgoing ChiefFindings of the well documented ‘Zeiler Report‘ in which a number of high ranking police officials have been implemented as being involved in close connections with organized crime, has reached the top of the Israeli Police Force, resulting in the announced resignation of Chief Police Commander Moshe Karadi.

Karadi, whose appointment to the post has been controversial from the outset, has been found to be involved with a number of underworld characters in scandalous activity not unlike characters in the American cinema series “The Godfather”, starring Marlon Brando and Mario Puzo. Another high ranking police official, Deputy Commander Avi Navon, has also been recommended for dismissal, even by Karadi himself who must be thinking that “if I go, others will too”

Yaacov Ganot Incoming ChiefKaradi’s announced replacement, as noted by Internal Security Minister Avi Dichter, is none other that Chief Prison Warden Yaacov Ganot, pictured above, who himself was accused several years back of a number of wrongdoings, including bribery, fraud, and breach of trust. Although supposedly cleared of these crimes, Ganot, who is a close friend of Karadi, and one the outgoing Commander can trust to carry on his ’special programs’, is a good example of the old saying that “two bad apples destroy the whole barrel. The Zeiler Commission, headed by one of the country’s most respected judges, Vardi Zeiler, has a few words to note about Warden Ganot, whose close association with Karadi leaves many wondering about the entire affair.

One of the strongest critics of the Ganot appointment is from former Supreme Court Jusrice Yitzhak Zamir; and a petition has been filed in protest of Ganot’s appointment by Dichter.

The full text of the Zeiler Report will soon be available, and then we can all read it and see just how low these guys can go! Corruption seems to be ripe everywhere, and it’s not helping to improve this country’s image abroad. Not that other countries have been immune to this kind of problem; American law enforcement officials were once heavily involved with gangland personalities, especially during the 1920’s and ’30s.

Karadi’s announced replacement, if actually placed in this position will certainly be under close scrutiny from the day he takes office. Mr. Dichter may have been a bit too hasty in choosing Ganot, and surely there are many qualified and reputable candidates in the Police Administration hierarchy. Surely, the entire “barrel” has not yet become rotten. The much needed reform in the Police, though talked about in recent times, apparently still needs to take place, and for many long-time “coppers” its still business as usual. What many are now wondering is what kind of “business” is being carried out.

The Mystery Killing of Professor David Niv

February 18th, 2007 Maurice

Professor David NivCircumstances surrounding the still unsolved shooting death of one of Tel Aviv’s most prominent physicians, while still unclear, may be leading to the possibility that the 57 year old head of Ichilov Hospital’s Pain Treatment Center may have been the victim of a vengeful relative of one of Prof. David Niv’s patients.

Niv, of whom his colleagues and staff associates said had “virtually no enemies”, was found shot to death February 7 in his car after it veered off the road and struck a tree at approximately 1:30 a.m. in the nearby suburb of Ramat Gan.

With an ongoing investigation still in progress, the police have no definite clues as to who the killer or killers might be; or as to why Prof. Niv was targeted for such a brutal fate.
Both members of the medical community as well as government officials are saying that if it is found out that Niv was actually ‘targeted’ for assassination, then it is a circumstance “of the worse type”. The police investigating teams are still trying to put the pieces of this tragedy together, and as a result are pursuing a number of possibilities, ranging from a case of mistaken identity, to revenge, to even an isolated “drive-by” shooting incident. Professor Niv’s positions as being in charge of both the hospital’s emergency department, as well as the department dealing with the treatment of patients suffering from both chronic and severe pain, meant that many patients in the departments under Prof. Niv’s supervision suffer from either life threatening or ‘terminal’ conditions, such as cancer. And no matter how much concern and effort is made in these departments to both ease human suffering, as well as save lives, the reality of it all is that patients do suffer and die, despite all efforts made to ease their pain and prolong their lives.

The possibility that Prof. Niv’s death was at the hands of a patient’s vengeful relative, was pondered by other physicians who were well acquainted with him, including Dr. Yoram Belsher, head of the Federation of Israeli Physicians. Dr. Belsher stated that he hoped that “this event was not an act of violence of a patient or a patient’s relatives”. Knesset member Yitchak Aharonovitch (Israel Betanu) went one step further by expressing his fears that this incident will be “one of the worst types, if proven to be the result of an assassination”.

From a historical perspective, physicians have had to deal with the problem of distraught and vengeful families of deceased patients, ever since the dawn of recorded history. In ancient times, in Babylonia for example, the famous Code of Hammurabi stated that if a physician treated a person and the person recovered, the physician was to be paid the sum of “ten pieces of silver”. If on the other hand, however, the patient died, his relatives had the right to “seek out and slay the physician” who treated him.

It is for perhaps this reason that Prof. Niv was ‘targeted’ for such a fate. And though incidents of this type have been virtually unknown in Israel, the circumstances surrounding Niv’s death are most worrisome in both medical and governmental circles.

When the truth of this incident finally is known, together with the apprehension of Prof. Niv’s killer, we will all have a better understanding as to why the life of such a well liked and prominent physician as Professor David Niv was so unceremoniously taken; and whether the deed was done in respect to the matter of “ten pieces of silver”.
