The proposal should be for a huge tricorn cathedral dedicated to the three religions that venerate this site – Judaism, Christianity and Islam (one corner for each of these Judaic sects). The biggest and most expensive cathedral in the world.

The Christians would agree, even the Catholics. The Jews would agree, except for the Orthodox, of course. The sticking point would always be Islam. They would never agree, because they don’t want peace at any price.

The cathedral would never be built – but that is not the point of the exercise. What this would do is clearly demonstrate to the world that it is the Muslims who are causing all the trouble here, and will not agree to any accord with the other sects of Judaism.

They would be isolated in capitals across the globe. Surely that is worth achieving?
